west coast vs. east coast attitudes-football

has anyone else noticed a difference in the way these guys conduct their selves on the field? Or is it just me?

I know there are a few bad apples for each team, but as a whole it just seems the further you go west the more sportsman these teams are. Maybe it is just me, because I am used to seein more east coast games?

I don't agree with that.

every team has bad apples.

the SEC teams have fewer thugs than the ACC.

the SEC is widely noted as the dirtiest, most shady conference in the nation...especially in recruiting

I tell you a team that I'm developing a lot more respect for and believe it or not, it comes from ESPN radio. I forget which one was talking about, Colin or Eric I think, but they were in Florida last week vacationing. Talked about ending up staying in the same hotel as the Penn State team. Said his whole family, I think his mom, brother, wives, kids, etc were there. Said that the Penn State guys would hold doors for the kids, the women, and say after you mam, or you go ahead sir, etc. Talked about how though they had some crazy hair and some had a ton of tats all over them, they all conducted themselves as gentlemen.

I have to say that Joe Pa doesn't seem like the kind that takes a lot of crap from anyone, so I kind of think that he at least expects his players to behave in a decent manner.

i like penn state's team...hate their fans...the way they talk youd never guess they had a bunch of years where they sucked here recently

If they have stunk it up due to not recruiting some trashier types, I have more respect for them. Besides, its hard to not support some 70+ year old guy who chases refs off the field [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Not being found of PSU's fans is understandable. All you have to do is look at any Philadelphia Eagles fan at a game, they are a bunch of thugs. Just look at what they did to Clinton Portis' parents sunday, they had to be brought out of the stands to the sidelines because of people throwing stuff at them. It doesn't matter whether they are winning or losing all they want to do is fight and start something with any opposing fan.

I'm an SEC homer and defend them at any chance, but I'm not sure I agree with that. UT, UF, USC, UGA have all had alot of bad apples the last few years, just to name a few. Maybe it's just blown up more in the SEC?

Recruiting maybe.

There's been some chippy stuff in this one too. I get where you're coming from though. I think it may have to do with more of the powers being in the east. You're not too mouthy when you play for Baylor or Stanford. Other than the two in the game now, there are no real powers past the Rocky Mtn's.
